That RAW Recap 12.12.11

If you missed RAW you didn’t miss much. The highlight was a four-way match between Zack Ryder, Cody Rhodes, Bryan ’Daniel Bryan’ Danielson and Dolph Ziggler. They were given a very hefty amount of time for a WWE television match (particularly RAW) and filled their match with smooth action and convincing false finishes. It struck me as a great showing by four men who deserve the opportunity to carry the promotion. Hopefully they’ll get that chance in 2012.

The show was also notable for the tribute video CM Punk introduced for Executive Vice President of Talent Relations John Laurinaitis. It’s unlikely to ever be shown on WWE programming again but it should be a hit on YouTube for years to come. Here it is for those unlucky enough to have missed it:

Probably the most important happening from RAW was the return of Kane. ‘The Big Red Machine’ made his way to the ring during the Mark Henry v John Cena wearing a wig and a strange head-encompassing mask that had a Predator feel to it. I assumed he was there to become the next opponent for Mark Henry, seeing as ‘The World’s Strongest Man’ was credited for putting him out of action. Instead it was John Cena who received a choke slam and sold his way off the air.

Kane was not a fan of the USA logo.

With Cena not scheduled for a match at TLC I think it’s a safe bet Kane will end up facing him on Sunday. Is that a match I want to see? Not especially, but on the plus side it sounds relatively fresh for two characters that have been in the promotion so long. Kane actually strikes me as someone who could drag a bearable performance for Cena.

So, as ever with RAW these days, it was a mixed bag.
